Pacific Power Soccer is dedicated to the growth of power soccer on the West Coast of the United States. Through various activities, our teams participate in local, regional, and national tournaments.
Our teams belong to the United States Power Soccer Association and support its ideals and goals. Referees are certified through USPSA. Pacific Power Soccer was formed to support the athletes and teams in our region.
Our goals focus on collaboration between teams for exploration of grant opportunities, providing opportunities for local camps where rules are learned and skills are honed, mentoring of newly forming teams, and awarding of grants for purposes of travel and competition.
Power Soccer is a sport designed for and played by athletes in power wheelchairs. Two teams of four players each compete on an indoor gymnasium or sports court. The sport began in Europe in the ‘70s and spread to North America in the ‘80s, and currently there are over 60 teams in the U.S. and Canada. Power soccer is an exciting sport to watch as the two teams endeavor to score goals. We are always on the lookout for potential players for both existing and new teams.

From the Treasurer
Pacific Power Soccer is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization chartered in 2014 in California. As such, we make annual reports to the IRS, the Franchise Tax Board, the California Attorney General, and semi-annually to the California Secretary of State.
PPS is composed of power soccer teams that are members of the national 501-c-3. The national organization is United States Power Soccer Association. USPSA is the governing body for power soccer in the United States.
Website is www.powersoccerusa.org.
Members of Pacific Power Soccer must be members of USPSA. This ensures us that the team is in good standing as far as liability insurance is concerned. Teams may purchase insurance from USPSA or their local recreational umbrella team organization. Pacific Power Soccer does not provide insurance to teams due to the high cost.
To become a member of Pacific Power soccer, please fill out a membership form and send it to PPS treasurer Nancy Mitchell. The dues are $100 per year, and our membership year runs from September 1st of one year to August 31st of the next year, matching the USPSA membership year. Membership closes on December 1st.
So, you may ask, what are the benefits provided by PPS membership? Our accounting system is a reimbursement model. After you incur a covered expense, you apply for a partial/full reimbursement of your cost. Covered in each individual team’s budget are travel expenses, equipment purchases, conference cup expenses, and local tournament expenses. Depending on the number of members, yearly budgets usually run between $300 and $500. To receive reimbursement for an expense, please fill out the Grant Application form and send it with receipts to the treasurer.
Also, please fill out and send in the Grant Disbursement form. This tells the treasurer whom to pay and where to send the check – very important pieces of information.
Also included in our yearly budget is reimbursement for referee stipends. Originally, the stipend was $35 per day for center referees. When gas prices increased dramatically, we appropriated $35 per tournament for side referees. There is a form specifically for this purpose. Please fill it out completely and send it to the treasurer. Referee stipends have their own line in the budget and are not subtracted from the team balance. If you have any questions about who refereed what game, you may send me a copy of the scoresheet.
It is the duty of the team manager or team coach to fill out these forms, which are found on our website.
